Spring Inspiration: Van Gogh

Winter is finally coming to a close, but with Spring weather still nowhere to be seen, I'm having to take my inspiration from elsewhere. And obviously "elsewhere" is a 19th century Dutchman.
While there are there are a million and one things from which inspiration can be drawn, for me, Van Gogh's paintings truly capture the essence of summer- starry nights, alfresco dining and sunflowers that have quite literally lasted a lifetime.

Van Gogh's art itself is undeniably beautiful, but it's his use of colours I find myself in total awe of- in particular, the mustards, navy blues and burnt oranges.
In typical spring style, floral print is back. But truthfully, florals have never really been my thing. That is, of course, with the exclusion of tapestry. The warm hues and intricate detailing of the fabric resemble Café Terrace at Night more so than 12 Sunflowers. When paired with denim, the combination is reminiscent of an art gallery itself- contrasting textures and beautiful colours captured within a relatively small space.

Long story short, Spring is coming and so is colour. Fashion is art too; create yourself.
